This painting depicts young figures dancing a universal and timeless dance of all humanity. The "stage" upon which they are dancing suggests the world itself with the bright sunlight as a backdrop. Their dance is primitive, sexual and encircling the globe. They are connected by their outreached hands, joining all peoples of the world as well as the pairing of the couples.
